Step 01.
Backup your personal data in iCloud or in iTunes. Check to see if iTunes is updated to latest version!
This is really important because you never know what might go wrong while jailbreaking.
Step 02.
Download the most recent version of
Chimera from the official
Chimera website or from our
secure mirror (Cydia Impactor included in the package).
Step 03.
On your PC: Connect your iOS device to your computer and make sure you trust the computer on your iPhone, iPad or iPod. Open Cydia Impactor
without the "Run as Administrator" option. Drag and drop
Chimera.ipa into Cydia Impactor application window on your desktop computer.
Step 04.
On your PC: Cydia Impactor will now ask you for your AppleID in order to *sign* the ipa file. You can use your AppleID or you can create a new AppleID to use only with Cydia Impactor. Your choice. Click the OK button to continue.
Step 05.
On your PC: Cydia Impactor will automatically prepare everything based on your inputs and sign the IPA file. If everything is OK, the IPA file will be installed on your iOS device correctly. If you get error notifications, you probably entered an incorrect Apple ID or password.
Step 06.
On your iDevice: Tap the
Settings icon, scroll to
General and choose
Device Management. You then see a developer profile under your "AppleID" heading. Tap the profile to "
trust" for this developer. (an internet connection is required to verify the app developer's certificate when establishing trust.)
Step 07.
Before proceeding to the next step, enable Airplane Mode, disable your passcode/Touch ID/Face ID, disable Siri, and reboot your device. Taking these additional steps isn’t mandatory, but has been known to increase jailbreaking success rates in the past.
Step 08.
On your iDevice: Find the newly installed Chimera app and open it.
Hit the
jailbreak button and the tool will begin jailbreaking your device; it should respring afterward.
If everything went well, you can now reopen the Chimera app and you should see the following screen:
After the jailbreak is complete you will also see a new app on your homescreen, Sileo. This is a modern Cydia package manager alternative.
Step 09.
On your iDevice: Re-enable the Find my iPhone option in iCloud settings, also enable your Passcode and TouchID / FaceID again.
Keep in mind the following:
- If you don’t see Sileo after jailbreaking with Chimera, then reboot and re-launch the Chimera app and keep trying until it works.
- We recommend that you use a burner AppleID to sign the IPA file, just to be safe. Cydia Impactor will only use your AppleID to sign the IPA file, nothing more.
- Official Chimera website: Chimera.sh
- If the jailbreak process get stuck at some point, restart it. Sometimes it might take a few tries to jailbreak.
